In Pokemon Go, gaining EXP is essential for developing yourself as a Pokemon Trainer. Leveling up unlocks higher CP Pokemon, better items, and allows you to power up your pokemon to higher CP levels. In our article today, we are going to break down how much experience you earn for tasks performed in Pokemon Go.

Earn 50 XP – PokeStop
Get in range of a PokeStop, spin the dial and collect 50 XP (oh and some useful items!)

Earn 0-1000 XP – Battle at a Gym
This will earn you XP based on your Pokemon as well as your opponent’s Pokemon. For example if the Pokemon you are battling are strong than yours than you will earn a much greater XP bonus.

Earn 10 XP – Nice Throw Bonus
Throw a Pokeball in the middle of a large circle and catch the pokemon.
Earn 50 XP – Great Throw Bonus
Throw a Pokeball in the middle of a smaller circle and catch the pokemon.
Earn 100 XP – Excellent Throw Bonus
Throw a Pokeball in the middle of the smallest circle and catch the pokemon.
Earn 10 XP – Curve Ball Bonus
Throw a spinning Pokeball and catch a Pokemon and earn an additional 10 XP.

Earn 100 XP – Capture a Pokemon (Already indexed)
Capture a duplicate Pokemon to earn 100 XP.
Earn 500 XP – Capture a Pokemon (Not indexed)
Capture a Pokemon that is not already in your PokeDex to earn 500 XP.
Earn 500 XP – Evolve a Pokemon (Already indexed)
Evolve a Pokemon into a Pokemon you already have in your PokeDex to earn 500 XP.
Earn 1000 XP – Evolve a Pokemon (Not indexed)
Evolve a Pokemon into a Pokemon that you don’t already have in your PokeDex to earn a quick 1000 XP.

Earn 200 XP – Hatch a 2KM egg.
Earn 500 XP – Hatch a 5KM Egg
Earn 1000 XP – Hatch a 10KM Pokemon
